Ulrike Vogel

Biography

With over a decade of working in hospitality I not only have extensive experience across different departments and roles but also in dealing with people from all different walks of lives and backgrounds. In early 2018 I transitioned into becoming an educator and have been sharing my knowledge and skills with professionals obtaining work-based learning qualifications. Initially, I supported people from start to finish through their L2-L4 Hospitality, L2 and L3 ILM qualification with corresponding Essential Skills certifications across Wales. I then move to coaching people through their L4 Data Science, Data Engineer or Digital Product Manager apprenticeships, allowing me to draw on both practical and theoretical, as well as first hand experience of combining education with full time work.

Since autumn 2023 I’m continuing my own learning journey, going through a professional doctorate programme for which I am planning to explore professional development of work-based learning practitioners. Prior to this, in 2022 I completed my MA Open, which challenged me to think differently about my preconceptions as well as understanding the impact any one teacher can have on their students and immediate surroundings. It’s also allowed me to realise the potential of work-based learning and how important it is to share experiences to broaden the lens for other educators. I’m keen to continue to advocate for the unique opportunities apprenticeships can provide.
