Annual Conference 2018

BORDER CROSSING: PROFESSIONAL LEARNING IN THE 21STCENTURY

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the 2018 International Conference at the Aston Conference Centre, Birmingham on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 November. We have some exciting speakers including Professor David Guile the Professor of Education and Work, Head of the Department of Lifelong and Comparative Education, UCL’s Institute of Education and Professor Robert Geyer, Professor of Politics, Complexity and Policy, and Academic Director (International) at Lancaster University. We also have a Panel on Gender, Race & Professional Learning, sponsored by PRACTICE journal, featuring Professor Jas Dhillon – University of Worcester; Professor Vini Lander, University of Roehampton and Dr Karima Kadi-Hanifi, Newman University.

Remember our conference fee includes accommodation, all meals and refreshments, conference dinner, as well as the conference itself, so it is a real bargain. FULL attendance at the conference entitles you to IPDA membership for the coming year.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM will be held at 17.15 – 18.15 on Friday 16 November 2018 at the Aston Conference Centre, Birmingham. Click here to view the AGM agenda. 

International Committee Nominations

Thank you to Dr Deborah Outhwaite; Dr Elizabeth White and Dr Egle Pranckuniene for serving on the International Committee for the last three years. If you would like to stand for the IPDA International Committee, we have three vacancies for a three year term of office from 2019-2021. You will need to find an IPDA member to nominate you and to second your nomination. If you would like to nominate someone, please ask them before sending in the nomination form. Elected committee members serve for three years. Any ordinary member of IPDA is eligible for election as a member of the International Committee.

IPDA Prize 2018

Please consider if you, or someone in your own institution or where you are external examiner, might be eligible for the IPDA prize. Thisis not only a recognition of high quality work and impact in the area of professional development and education, it is also a stepping stone to deeper development through the IPDA network, journal, regional events and conference. We are very grateful to Dr Coleen Jackson, our previous Chair, for her generous gift to fund the IPDA prize for the next 3 years.
