This event took place on 18 November 2025. In this IPDA Scotland online event we explored how the experience and knowledge of the practice-based researcher can help shape the research within their own study. The discussion was led by Professor Gary Husband, University of Sunderland.

We also explored how the experience and knowledge of the researcher can help shape understanding and achieve perspectives that would not be available to outside researchers. We navigated the challenges around issues often dismissed through the attempts to mitigate bias and explored how critical reflection and position offers opportunities for practitioner researchers to develop powerful insights and influence practice and policy.
