IPDA England hosts online event on supporting Early Career Teachers through Mentoring

Webinar

This online event on ‘Supporting Early Career Teachers through Mentoring: Learning from Current Research and Practice’ took place on 12th June 2021 in partnership with the Research-Engaged Practice Network (REPN) at Sheffield Hallam University.

Mentoring can be a vital source of development, learning and support for teachers, especially in the early stages of their careers. Its importance is illustrated by its role at the heart of the Department for Education’s Early Career Framework.

In this online workshop, we shared learning from recent research and practice focussed on mentoring early career teachers. Through presentations and discussion, we considered how we can support teachers, mentors and schools to gain the most from mentoring.

This event was organised as a partnership between Sheffield Institute of Education, part of Sheffield Hallam University, and the International Professional Development Association’s England committee.

The event was chaired by Lynsey Hunter, of Sheffield Institute of Education, one of the leads of the Education Development Trust’s Early Career Framework delivery.
